April 2024 update

We have been overwhelmed with the response from our soft media launch in March. So many have reached out to offer to partner, volunteer and pass on their stories and we have been working in the background to see how we can capture these opportunities. A very big thank you for being part of the inaugural advocates. Our hope is that ASDA can be set up and operating from July 2024.

Governance

The original co-founders are keen to support a new structure that should enable the next step in the evolution of ASDA. The next three months of establishment will enable ASDA to focus on set up, formal launch, engaging with partners and responding to the huge levels of interest.

We are in the process of reaching out to all those that expressed interest in supporting with time and energy. An interim committee will be established, leading towards a more formal structure in July.

Aviation Aerospace Australia (A/AA) have kindly agreed to assist ASDA by providing structural and business support. This is in the form of hosting ASDA through funding arrangements and employee requirements. This will be for the next 2 years. A/AA has invested in the space community and has shared values with existing diversity and inclusion activities. Their next generational and women chapters have made significant improvements in the aerospace sectors. We are very grateful that they have agreed to provide this support, enabling more focus on outcomes.

In-person gathering

Momentum Media have been very gracious in their support of ASDA. The first in-person gathering of ASDA supporters will coincide with the Australian Space Summit and Exhibition in Sydney, 28-29 May. If you are attending, please join us. More details to come.

If you haven’t yet registered, you can use a discount code: ASDA to get 10% off the ticket price.

We will have a booth, so come and say hi!

Resources

We know that volunteer and in-kind support is a heavy burden on individuals. Right from the start we were steadfast in ensuring we could obtain sufficient funding to enable outcomes to be achieved with a part-time paid position. We are working on the details of this and will shortly go out for recruitment.

We thank our early partners for coming on board and recognising how important it is to have a paid position to support the exciting activities we are keen to deliver. More information on our partners and sponsors will come over the next few months.
