The 10th of October is World Mental Health Day; a day of awareness and action in support of improving mental health.

This year's campaign theme is Mental Health at Work.

Work environments in which discrimination, stigma, job insecurity, lack of autonomy, work overload, and harassment are allowed to permeate can pose significant risks to employees' mental health, quality of life, and productivity.

The Australian Space Diversity Alliance understands the crucial role that safe, supportive, inclusive working environments play to protect mental health and wellbeing. We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of every individual in our community.

Employers can take action by:

  • raising awareness through internal communications, events, and promotion of good mental health practices;

  • providing training for managers;

  • providing accommodations (e.g. flexible work, breaks, extra time to complete tasks); and, importantly,

  • engaging and involving those with lived experience of mental health conditions.

Removal of barriers to work for people living with mental health conditions benefits everyone.

To those currently experiencing mental health conditions and/or poor work environments: we see you. Reach out for support if you can.
