Mitch Porteous

Mitch Porteous is a certified economic developer with expertise in business operations, community development, and specialist recruitment. Mitch has successfully supported startups and large government organisations in Australia, helping them build strategic partnerships, grow their teams, and scale their impact.

Serving on the National Committee at the Australian Space Diversity Alliance (ASDA), Mitch is passionate about advancing Australia’s sovereign space capabilities. He champions diversity and inclusion, ensuring the space sector attracts talent from adjacent industries and remains competitive globally.

In addition to his role at ASDA, Mitch co-founded the Microforest Collective and the Queanbeyan Microforest. At TEDx Canberra, he has shared how these projects transform underutilised land into spaces that better support biodiversity and build stronger neighbourhoods.

Mitch is also dedicated to helping men give back to their communities. He sits on the board of EveryMan Australia as their Vice President and has volunteered with Menslink as a mentor.

ASDA acknowledges Australia’s First Nations' People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and gives respect to the Elders – past and present – and through them to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
