Georgi Coddington

Georgi Coddington has been an Ambassador for the Australian Space Diversity Alliance since early 2024, and now sits on the National Committee. She is also the Director of the ASTRA Program, a space outreach initiative part of the Australian Youth Aerospace Association that was founded in 2020, aiming to bridge the gap between education and industry for students and young professionals wanting to work in the space sector in Australia.

Georgi’s path to the space industry has been unique - growing up in rural New South Wales on a farm led her to have a deep appreciation for the night sky and vastness of the universe.

First starting out in a Bachelor of Politics Philosophy and Economics and then moving to a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics)/Mathematics, she didn’t consider a career in space until becoming a participant in the ASTRA Program in 2022 where she focused on earth observation methods for bushfire management. Since then, Georgi has been leading the program, has won the Young Australian Space Leader Award, presented a paper at the International Astronautical Congress in Milan, and worked with over 35 organisations, and international space agencies, to progress the future of the Australian space industry by uplifting its future leaders.

Georgi has always been an outspoken advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion, particularly for people with disabilities, victims of sexual, family and domestic violence, and for rural and remote students. She previously sat on the University of Wollongong Safe and Respectful Communities (SARC) Advisory Board, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and on the Student Advisory Council.
