Emma Swift

Emma Swift is a proud Aboriginal woman who is passionate about her career as an Airline Pilot and has been flying for 18 years.

She started her career as a Physiotherapist due to her passion for health science and serving the community. However, she soon discovered her love of flying and pursued her dreams of becoming a Pilot.
Emma was a Captain and Human Factors/Non-Technical Skills Facilitator for a regional airline before pivoting her career to jet flying as a B737 First Officer and Non-Technical Skills Facilitator for Virgin Australia.

From 2022-2024, she was a Director for Women in Aviation International - Australian Chapter and is currently the South Australian Chair.

Emma has completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (Learning and Teaching) at Deakin University. She is completing her Master of Aviation Management, specialising in Human Factors and Safety, at the University of New South Wales with the aim to pursue a PhD considering the impact of Human Factors training in aviation and space operations.

She is determined to continue her advocacy efforts for underrepresented groups to build a fair, inclusive, and diverse Australian space sector.

ASDA acknowledges Australia’s First Nations' People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and gives respect to the Elders – past and present – and through them to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
