Apply to become a Board Observer

Thank you for your interest in the Australian Space Diversity Alliance (ASDA) Board Observer Program. This six-month program provides an opportunity for emerging leaders to observe board meetings, develop governance skills, and gain insights into strategic decision-making.

We’re looking for individuals with leadership experience, a proactive approach to growth, and a strong motivation to contribute to the success of the Australian space sector. If this is your first time considering governance or executive leadership, that’s okay—this program is about accelerating the careers of those ready to take the next step.

Participating organisations include EveryMan Australia and Aviation Aerospace Australia (A/AA).

Important Dates:

  • Applications close: 26 March, 2025

  • Successful applicants notified: 3 April, 2025

  • Program commencement: May 2025

Eligibility questions

Please respond to the following questions (150 words max per response):

  1. Demonstrated leadership experience

Tell us about a time you demonstrated leadership. This could include guiding a team, managing a project, resolving a challenge, or mentoring others. What was your role, and what was the outcome?

  1. Proactive approach to learning and results

Share how you’ve pursued learning and applied new skills in a meaningful way. For example, have you completed training, sought mentorship, or set and achieved personal development goals? What impact did this have on your work or career?

  1. Interest in governance and strategic thinking

Tell us why you are interested in governance or organisational leadership. Have you participated in any governance-related activities, or how do you see board-level decision-making aligning with your aspirations?

  1. Inclusivity and collaboration

Share an example of how you’ve fostered collaboration or inclusivity in a team or project. How did you ensure diverse perspectives were valued, and what was achieved as a result?

  1. Motivation to contribute to the space sector

Why are you passionate about the Australian space sector? If you’re not currently working in the sector, how do you see your skills and experiences contributing to its growth and success?
